Choose Box
The "Choose Box" screen allows you to create a box, that is, decide
how many tickets are in the box, and what is written on the tickets. There
are three methods for specifying the tickets:
-
Die: A
box that represents a fair die. Choose the "Die" option at the upper
left, and select a number (from 2 to 24) for "# of Sides." The box
will be filled with one ticket for each of the numbers from 1 to the number
of sides.
-
Coin: A
box that represents flipping a coin. Choose the "Coin" option at
the upper left, then choose the chance of heads from "% Heads."
The box will be filled with 100 tickets where the percentage of 1's equals
the chance of heads, and the percentage of 0's equals the chance of tails.
-
Anything else: Choose
the "Other" option. Any box can be described by typing in the values
written on the tickets in the "Value" columns, and typing the number
of tickets with that value in the corresponding "Count" column*.
For example, to create a box with
-
3 tickets with the value 1
-
1 ticket with the value 5
-
7 tickets with the value 6
Fill in the first three pairs of slots under "Count"
and "Value" as follows:
Once you are satisfied with the box, and wish to use it in other routines,
press the "Accept Box" button in the lower right. You will see the
histogram for the tickets in the box.
To erase everthing and start over, press the "Clear Values"
button.
* The routines generally look
better if the values on the tickets are smallish integers.
