The first meeting is mostly exploratory.
Be prepared to present the background for your research and to
explain the problem. Since the consultant may not be familiar
with the terms used in your area of research, please explain
concepts in layman's terms.
Be realistic.
Be thorough in explaining the problem to make sure that the
consultant understands what you're asking. The consultant may
not be able to answer all your questions right away and may need
to discuss with other consultants or faculty members.
Projects
that require ISO to analyze the data may take some time to
complete depending on the complexity of the data and analyses,
and on existing work load of the consultants. Let the consultant
know of your time constraints. Do not wait until the last
minute to seek help.
If you are
on a tight budget, let the consultant know. Ask for a cost
estimate if you need one.
